Jackson River Trip June '09
This post is a little late, but we went on the funnest trip in June to Jackson Hole. We go every year with my family and it is such a blast. Travis and I decided to leave the girls home with grandparents this year so we were kidless! Not something that happens very often so we sure enjoyed ourselves, although we missed them tons! We camp in the canyon right next to the river and we float down the Snake at least once a day. My family has a raft and my stepdad and brother are really experienced oarmen. We hang around the campfire at night and roast hotdogs and marshmallows. This year a few of Shad's friends came up and kept the party going! Since we didn't have our kids with us, we thought that we would take our two dogs and they loved it. They don't get out much lately so they had a good time in the great outdoors. It turns out that everyone that came this year had their dogs. We had quite the canine camp! We can't wait to do this again next summer.

The famous "Antler Arch" in downtown Jackson. We had really full bellies from eating at Bubba's BBQ- our favorite!

Shad and Stormy. Amanda couldn't make it this year and we were sad! It would have been even more FUN with her there!

Dave and Buddy. 120 lbs of yellow fur! (Buddy, not Dave:)

This isn't our boat but just look how BIG the river was this year!

Us and our mutts. They aren't showing their best side. They are actually quite cute from the front!

Happ-Doo!
Happ-Doo Dear Dad! Happ-Doo, Happ-Doo! This is Skylar's version of "Happy Birthday". So today we are singing it to....Travis! He is turning the big 3-0 today! Pretty crazy that both of us are going into another decade in our lives!

You know when you are 19 or 20, you think, "by the time I'm thirty I will have (blank) and I will have done (blank) and I will definitely be done doing (blank). And then when you hit thirty you think, "I haven't done or accomplished any of that! Aaah! Where has my life gone?"
And then you start thinking about what you HAVE accomplished
and what your life IS
instead of what you thought you wanted it to be and you realize that you wouldn't want it any other way!

Happy Birthday (happ-doo) to my great huband! You are an amazing Dad to our girls and we love you so much!

Vacation???!!!
This weekend we took a trip to Twin Falls, Idaho where Travis and his family played in...you guessed it, a golf tourny! All the wives went and I took the girls. It was really fun but Skylar was sooo much work! She wasn't naughty, she was just acting her age. She has a hard time being cooped up, like in the hotel room or riding in her stroller for a long time. She always wants you to walk with her by holding her hands and going up and down the hallway or around the store. Luckily I had a lot of help from my sisters-in-law and Trav's mom, Patti. I don't think I could have done it without them! I hope it didn't ruin their trip by having my babies around, but I think that they really enjoy them! Anyway, Sailyr was really good, she just eats and sleeps.
We went to the open house at the new Twin Falls Temple. It was so cool! I have never been in a temple before and it was so beautiful inside! I was really glad that we went. While we were on the tour we went into the room with the baptismal font. The ceilings were really high and the room echoed a little. Everyone in the group was really quiet listening to the guide tell us about the room, except for Skylar! She kept saying "Hi!" really loudly and repeating it about a hundred times! Everyone was smiling and giggling at her, just egging her on. She must have realized the echo and really thought she should take advantage of it! It was so cute and a memory that I won't ever forget!
Travis and Brady ended up tying for first place in the tournament! They won about $210 each and got to spend it in the clubhouse and buy some new golf stuff! It was really exciting and really made the trip even that much more fun!
Going on "vacation" isn't what it used to be before we had kids but I wouldn't have it any other way!
P.S. My pictures of this trip wouldn't upload for some reason, but check out Steph's blog for some cute pics!

Fourth of July!!!
Yesterday we got up early and went to the Plain City Fourth of July parade. It was really fun and really the perfect parade. It wasn't too long and the weather wasn't too hot yet. Skylar had fun trying to pick up the candy they threw and she created quite the pile! Stephanie and Brady came with us since they are also new Plain City residents! The bad part of the day was I got really sick for the rest of the day. I had horrible body aches and a fever, it really sucked! I wanted to take Skylar back over to the park to see all of the booths and maybe play a couple of games (you know, the fish pond, etc!) but I just didn't feel up to it. Today I feel much better, luckily! Travis golfed with his Dad and brothers which is an annual tradition on every summer holiday. Later that night we lit some fireworks off in front of our house and watched the Plain City fireworks from our back deck! It was the perfect view and we didn't have to fight the crowds!
