Introducing...Sailyr Jae Hess

She is here! Sailyr Jae Hess was born June 12, 2008 at 1:34 pm. She weighed 7 lb. 15 oz and was 20". She weighed a whole pound more than Skylar did at birth! She is so beautiful and gets prettier every day! My labor and delivery were sooo easy...I always feel really lucky about that. Just Trav and I were in the delivery room (along with the doctor and nurses, of course), and it was really nice to be able to share this together. Afterward, we had quite a few visitors which was fun! We came home on Saturday morning where my mom had been staying with Skylar. She has been so much help this week! I don't know what we would have done without all of the help. Especially since Monday Travis, me and Skylar came down with the stomach flu! My mom has cleaned and taken care of everybody...she has been so busy and I am so grateful! Trav and I are feeling better but Skylar still isn't 100%, and now my mom has it! Oh No!!! I guess it will be a good test for me to prove that I can do this two kid thing after all.
Skylar is taking more interest in the baby. She points at her and says, "baby". She doesn't really get it quite yet but little does she know that they are going to be best friends! I can't wait! Babies are such a miracle and being a mom is the greatest job in the world!
P.S. Check out more pics of Sailyr at www.our365.com!

One week and counting!

So I went to my doctor appointment on Tuesday and she scheduled me for an induction on Thursday, June 12! That means one week from today we will be parents of two cute baby girls (unless I go into labor on my own before then)! I can't wait to see this baby's face and snuggle her! We still aren't sure what her name is but I guess we will figure it out before we leave the hospital! I hear they make you put a name on the Birth Certificate or something...anyways only one week left!

Birthday Girl!!

Today is my little Skylar-girl's first birthday! It is hard to believe that she is already a year old! It makes us sad and excited at the same time. I'm sure I will feel this way on many occasions to come...her first day of Kindergarten, her first date, her graduation and wedding day, etc. It is just part of being a parent, I guess. Here are a few of her stats so far:

-She weighs just about 20 pounds and is 28" tall
-She has two bottom teeth
-She can stand on her own for a few seconds at a time
-She crawls around...fast
-She cruises around the furniture
-She walks if you hold her hands
-She can say a few words: Baby, Kitty, Hiiii!, Bye, Dad, Mom, Dog, Uh-Oh
-She dances to any, and I mean any, rhythm or music that she hears
-She loves our cat Fred
-She points at everything
-She can drink from a glass and thru a straw
-She loves her blankies, it doesn't matter which one as long as it is a flannel recieving blanket!
-She finally will sleep all night long...not every night but she can do it!
-She still loves her bathtime! She will stay in there for hours if we would let her!

All in all, she is such a happy baby and we can't even imagine our lives without her! This past year has been so much fun and quite an experience as any first time parent knows! We are excited to see what the years to come have in store for us! We love you Skylar! Happy first birthday!

Grandma Joni visits!

This past week my mom came to visit. She was my resident babysitter while I worked and did some random things like doctor appointments and nail appointments. I was so glad to have her here and I know Skylar loved spending some quality time with her Grandma. Last Saturday while Travis played in a golf tourny (shocking, I know) me, my mom and Grandma Mona, and Skylar went to Salt Lake to look for a dresser for the new baby. We went to USA Baby and found the cutest dresser and convertible crib that matched. The dresser was a floor sample and was more than half-off. What a great buy for an awesome piece of furniture. So I bought them and now Travis just has to pick them up with his truck! What a relief to have that done. Now I feel a little more prepared for this baby girl to come into our family! I am getting really excited now and I can't wait to kiss her cute little cheeks!

Happy Birthday Kerri!

Today is Kerri Hess' birthday! She is such a great sister-in-law, aunt but most of all she is one of my best friends! Kerri is always the one that will call just to see how my day is going or to check on me if I have had a bad day. She is very selfless and such a beautiful person inside and out! Hope you have a great day, Kerri! I love you tons!

Palm Springs

We are home from our fun-filled weekend to visit my mom! We had a great time. We had great weather and it was really fun to spend some time with her. Travis played a ton of golf. He played at a really nice resort on Friday. There are two different courses at this resort and he played both of them (36 holes). On Saturday he played at another resort and when he was done with the first 18, he decided to play it again! That is 72 holes in 2 days! What a diehard! Skylar got a little bit of one-on-one time with her Grandma Joni, once on Friday night while Travis and I went out to dinner and did a little shopping, and for a lot of the day on Sunday while Travis and I went golfing (another 18 in for Trav, I just rode along). That was really nice to have some time to ourselves! I think my mom really enjoyed having her all to herself for a little while. It sure did make her remember how much work it is to have a crawler around. Skylar is sooooo busy! She did pretty good on the plane. She liked to look at all of the people around us. She would get their attention and wave to them and talk to them. She is the center of attention wherever we go! We had a really fun trip but I think we will wait a while before we fly anywhere with her again...it is really exausting!
